Waikato teens arrested after overnight trip to Auckland

A carload of out-of-town teenagers have had their return plans halted after Police stopped their stolen vehicle in south Auckland.

Just before 6am, Police received information a stolen Toyota Hilux was travelling south on the Southern Motorway.

Senior Sergeant Simon Cornish, of Counties Manukau East Police, says the vehicle had been reported stolen from the Hamilton area.

“It is alleged the vehicle was stolen overnight, and the Police Eagle helicopter deployed to the area,” he says.

Name release, fatal crash Okaramio

Police can now confirm the name of the man who died following a crash on SH6, Okaramio on 19 July.

He was Tachyon Hutt, 23, from Picton.

Name release, fatal crash Dunedin

Police can now release the name of the man who died following a crash on the Dunedin Northern Motorway on 12 April.

He was 35-year-old Charles Chen Cheing, of Waitati, Dunedin.

Our condolences are with his friends and family at this time.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Pair charged with murder in relation to death of Tyreece Te Pairi, Hamilton

Two further men have been arrested and charged with murder in relation to the death of Tyreece Te Pairi in Hamilton late last month.

Tyreece, 20, was fatally injured during an altercation on Alexandra Street shortly after midnight on 20 July.

Earlier this month, two 19-year-old men appeared in Hamilton District Court on murder charges.

She was 41-year-old Erin Lee Van De Water, of Dunedin.

Police praise persons actions following incident in Pine Harbour

Police are commending the selfless actions of a member of the public following an incident in Pine Harbour yesterday afternoon, which narrowly avoided a tragic outcome.

Police were called to the Pine Harbour Marina at about 4.20pm following a report of a woman in distress in the water.

Relieving Counties Manukau East Area Commander, Inspector Nga-Wati Chaplow, says the Police Air Support Unit, Deodar and Coastguard were dispatched.
