Steam Client Beta – September 4th

The Steam Client Beta has been updated with the following changes:

General

  • Improved startup performance for users with large libraries that include non-Steam games.

In-Game Overlay

  • Adjusted Performance Monitor GPU Utilization measurement on Windows+NVIDIA GPUs to closer match some other tools. This will again shift the number to match task manager less, but match some other tools measurements more closely. The percentage you see will not change in many games, but may now show higher utilization in some games. We will update our Performance Monitor FAQ with more detail on the nuances of this measurement after this update gets some testing.

Linux

  • Fixed system display scale not applying in overlay.

Dirt bike riders lose their wheels

Location:

Northland

Northland Police have easily answered a pesky dirt bike rider’s question “catch me if ‘ya can” – yes, we just did.

The taunting question was sent to Police by a rider who had been causing havoc amongst the Whangārei community in recent months.

It ended up with the youth in custody, and the bike taken off his hands, Northland Road Policing Manager Inspector John Fagan says.

This is one of several results as Police crackdown on unsafe and illegal dirt bike riding activity across Northland’s communities.

Location:

Eastern

As New Zealand makes its way out of winter, Police are reminding people to take the right equipment when going tramping and hunting.

“We’re lucky to have great access to the outdoors, across the country,” says Detective Sergeant Alex Simister.

“But we need people to make sure when they’re heading into the bush, they’re doing it safely.

“Take the right gear, let someone know your return time and please take a beacon or communication device.

“Beacons are an essential piece of gear and can be rented for as little as ten dollars.”
