SteamOS 3.7.17 Beta: The Blues

Note: This update is for the Steam Deck Beta and Preview channels, and includes new features that are still being tested. You can opt into this in Settings > System > System Update Channel.

  • Temporarily re-disabled experimental wake-on-bluetooth support for Steam Deck LCD while issues with spurious wake-ups are investigated

  • Fixed an issue that could prevent updating from specific older builds of SteamOS

  • Fixed a bug with the Discover app in desktop mode that could cause update failures in some scenarios

Update: Police seek two men in relation to Te Puke homicide

A homicide investigation is continuing following the death of a man in Te Puke on Saturday 25 October.

Police can now name the victim of the homicide as Tristan Oakes, aged 29.

Tristan died in hospital on Saturday, after being critically injured when shot at his Te Puke home.

Police have identified two men we wish to speak to in relation to Tristan’s death.

They are Kanan Clarke, aged 39, and Joseph Yorke, aged 40.

23 arrested after rugby league game

Tāmaki Makaurau Police have arrested 23 people following celebrations in relation to a rugby league game this weekend.

Police monitored a number of town centres that traditionally celebrate the two league teams on Sunday night.

During this operation, Police saw a high volume of pedestrians and vehicles travelling within these areas.

While Police would like to thank the majority who celebrated peacefully and lawfully, there were multiple incidents that were disappointing to Police.

Police seeking information after Palmerston North burglary

Attributable to Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Deegan:

Police investigating a burglary in Palmerston North are seeking help from the public.

The residential burglary in the Stoney Creek Road area was reported to Police today and likely occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A Polaris Ranger 1000 all-terrain vehicle was stolen, along with the trailer it was on.

Man arrested after fleeing Police, West Auckland

Waitematā

A 33-year-old man has been arrested after fleeing from Police in Westgate this afternoon.

At around 4:20pm Police received reports of a firearm visible in a vehicle in Westgate.

Ground units followed the vehicle through the Huapai and Kumeu areas.

The Eagle helicopter was then deployed to follow the vehicle through Massey and Henderson.

At around 5:40pm road spikes were deployed which brought the vehicle to a stop within minutes, on Te Kanawa Crescent, Henderson.

Fatal crash, Waiheke Island


Location:

Auckland City

One person has died and another has been seriously injured following a motorbike crash on Waiheke Island.

Emergency services were called to Ocean View Road, Oneroa just before 2pm, to reports the three-wheeled bike had hit a tree.

One person sadly died at the scene, while another was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised, and Ocean View Road near Goodwin Avenue will be closed while they attend the scene.

Homicide investigation launched, Te Puke

Attributable to Detective Senior Sergeant Natalie Flowerdew-Brown, Western Bay of Plenty Area Investigations Manager:

A homicide investigation has been launched after the death of a man who was critically injured in Te Puke on Saturday.

At around 10.30am, Police received a report of a person having been admitted to hospital with a critical gunshot wound.

Today, despite best efforts by medical experts, the man died this morning.

Police are now working to establish the full circumstances of what has occurred, and to locate those involved.

Police charge man following threat against Wellington place of worship

An 18-year-old Dunedin man has been charged in relation to a threat against a Wellington place of worship. 

The man was arrested yesterday evening and has now been charged with causing harm by posting digital communication.

He is scheduled to appear in Dunedin District Court on Monday 27 October.

Enquiries into this matter are continuing and Police cannot rule out further charges.

Fatal Crash, Matuku Road, Morrinsville


Location:

Waikato

One person has died after a crash in Morrinsville overnight.

Police were called to a single-vehicle crash on Matuku Road at around 2.45am.

Sadly, one person was located deceased at the scene.

The road remains closed while the Serious Crash Unit conducts a scene examination.

Traffic management is in place, and motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.

Man dies in hospital following motorcycle crash


Location:

Waikato

A man has died following injuries sustained in a serious crash on 18 October in the Waipa District.

Emergency services were notified of the crash on Te Pahu Road just after 11am that day.

The man was assessed by ambulance services to have serious injuries at the scene and was transported to hospital. Sadly, he died from his injuries on Wednesday.

Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this time.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
