Name release: Pukekohe death

Police are now able to advise the body found in Pukekohe on 22 November has been formally identified as Te Anihana Pomana.

As always, our thoughts and sympathies are with Te Anihana’s whānau and friends at this difficult time.

Te Anihana’s death has been referred to the Coroner.

Man charged following firearms incident near Thames

Attributable to Detective Sergeant Mark Leathem, Coromandel Hauraki CIB:

A man has been arrested after an incident yesterday where a firearm was discharged near a popular Thames swimming hole.

Police were called about 5pm to the location on Kauaeranga Valley Road after reports that a man had threatened members of the public and discharged a shot into the air.

He then allegedly discarded the weapon into vegetation before leaving in a vehicle with another party.

Fatality following water-related incident, Glenbrook


Location:

Canterbury

One person has died after a water-related incident in Glenbrook this morning.

Emergency services were called to the area near Falston Road, Glenbrook, about 8.40am after a person was pulled unresponsive from the water.

CPR was undertaken, however sadly they died at the scene.

The death will be referred to the Coroner.

Fatal crash, Wairoa


Location:

Eastern

One person has been found deceased after a serious crash in Wairoa this morning.

Police were alerted to the crash about 4.10am after a vehicle went into the water near the intersection of Carroll Street and River Parade.

One person has now been located deceased in the water outside of the vehicle.

While there is not believed to be anyone else outstanding, the Police National Dive Squad will attend to inspect the vehicle.

Cordons remain in place while emergency services staff work at the scene.

Motorists should continue to avoid the area, if possible.

Wanted man located

Waitematā

Police can advise a man previously subject of a warrant to arrest, after he failed to return to custody, has been located.

A media release was issued on 21 November.

We can advise the 56-year-old man was arrested in Waterview this afternoon.

He is expected in the Auckland District Court tomorrow.

Police arrest man after Papatoetoe aggravated robbery

Police have arrested a man after he allegedly forced an elderly man out of his vehicle and stole it.

Just before lunchtime, a man arrived at a house on Wyllie Road in Papatoetoe and attempted to open the front door.

Senior Sergeant Steve Albrey, Counties Manukau West Response Manager, says he was unsuccessful and left.

“He walked towards a neighbouring driveway where a woman was driving out in her vehicle.

“The man allegedly pointed a spear gun at the woman but fortunately she locked her doors and quickly drove away from the scene.”

Name release, fatal crash, Timaru

Police are now able to release the names of the two people who died following a crash on State Highway 1 in Timaru on 20 November.

They were Ivar Andrew Crowther, 5, and Steven Bruce Crowther, 40, of Temuka.

Our condolences are with their family and friends during this difficult time.

Police’s enquiries into the crash are ongoing.

Information sought on shooting – Sapphire Place, Hamilton

Waikato Police investigating a firearms incident overnight are seeking information from the public where a man was left with serious injuries.

At about 11.50pm on Thursday 27 November, Police were called to a property on Sapphire Place in Chartwell after reports a man had been shot.

A 37-year-old was located with gunshot wounds and taken to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.

He remains in hospital in a stable state. At this stage, Police believe the incident was targeted.
