Update: Gisborne homicide

Police are continuing to make enquiries following the death of a man in Gisborne on Monday morning.

Police were called to an address on Ormond Road, between Lytton Road and Riperata Street shortly after 4am, where the man was located injured, before passing away in Gisborne Hospital a short time later.

Detective Inspector Martin James says enquiries are progressing well, with a steady flow of information provided by the public to assist our enquiries.

Police make arrest over stolen clothing on the North Shore

A Hibiscus Coast teenager will appear in court this week after allegedly demanding, and stealing, clothing from other teenagers.

Two other young people were also apprehended as part of the investigation into the incident near Westfield Albany on Friday morning.

Waitematā East Area Commander Inspector Mike Rickards says Police have been investigating two recent incidents.

“On Friday morning, three offenders have approached our two teenage victims near the shopping centre,” he says.

Anti-social road users face court

Two drivers are heading to court after catching the attention of Police in West Auckland on Saturday night.

Around 10.30pm Police were called to Hobsonville Point after a large gathering of vehicles turned to anti-social road user activity.

Waitemata Road Policing Coordinator, Senior Sergeant Damian Albert, says one driver recklessly performed a burnout on the crowded streets.

“As a result, multiple units attended this gathering in an attempt to disperse the group,” he says.

Update: Oakleigh crash, Whangārei

Police have laid charges against one of the drivers involved in a crash on State Highway 1, Oakleigh on 27 September.

Around 5.40pm emergency services attended the crash between two vehicles, one of which was towing a trailer.

There were no serious injuries as a result of the crash.

Man charged following serious incident at Wadestown property

A 54-year-old man has been charged with aggravated burglary and assault with a weapon following an incident in Wadestown yesterday.

The man is remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear in Wellington District Court on 2 October.

Police were called to Anne Street at around 12:35pm after reports that a man had entered a property armed with a long bladed weapon and attempted to steal a vehicle.

Innocent pups rescued after disturbing incident in Parnell

Auckland City

Police have acted swiftly to protect three puppies after a man allegedly mistreated them near the Parnell Train Station.

The innocent puppies are now safe and receiving care at one of Auckland Council’s Animal Management shelters.

Just before 7pm on Sunday, members of the public contacted Police after seeing a man allegedly making threats to seriously harm the three puppies in his possession.

Media advisory: St Johns homicide investigation

Auckland City Police will hold a media stand-up tomorrow as part of the ongoing St Johns homicide investigation.

The investigation continues to seek those involved in the death of Kyle Whorrall over Easter Weekend.

Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin will speak with media on Tuesday morning.

The stand up will be held on Tuesday 30 September at Auckland City Police Hub, on Hargreaves  Street, at 10.15am.

Media are asked to wait outside in the forecourt area, where they will be escorted inside to set up.

Firearms found, four arrested following Whanganui search warrant

Multiple firearms were found hidden at a Puriri Street property when Whanganui police teams executed a search warrant last week on 25 September.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Carey Priest from the Whanganui Criminal Investigation Branch says items were found throughout the house, shed and in a roof space.

“Officers found a significant number of items and arrested four people, one of whom had a warrant out for her arrest.

PLB use leads to swift rescue in Upper Hutt


Location:

Wellington

Wellington Police’s Search and Rescue squad was called into action on Sunday following a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) activation in the Little Akatarawa River area, Upper Hutt.

The Rescue Coordination Centre requested assistance after the beacon was activated by a tramping group deep in the bush. Upon arrival, Police SAR teams discovered a patient had fallen from height into a steep and narrow canyon, sustaining moderate injuries.
