Cash, drugs, luxury goods seized in money laundering investigation

An ongoing investigation targeting alleged money laundering using cash wages within the construction industry has resulted in further arrests.

Operation Beach is a long running covert investigation targeting the ongoing manipulation of the construction industry for the purposes of money laundering via cash wage payments.

To date, 16 arrests have been made, with the latest phase in the investigation yielding seven further arrests today.

Whanganui Police catch morning drink driver after school dropoff

A 36-year-old woman was caught driving badly impaired, over three times the legal alcohol limit, on Monday morning.

Sergeant Colin Wright says this recent example demonstrates the risk that drivers take if they get behind the wheel when they’re impaired.

About 10am on Monday 6 October Detectives Karin Wakefield and Piet De Vegt, from Whanganui Criminal Investigations Branch, were driving to an appointment in Taihape in an unmarked police vehicle.

Masterton Police investigating death of baby girl

To attribute to Detective Senior Sergeant Philip Skoglund, Masterton Police:

Police are investigating the death of a 3-month-old baby girl in Masterton.

At around 2pm on Thursday 2 October, Police were notified of the incident.

Officers are now working to determine what exactly has occurred.

The family are assisting the investigation team with our enquiries, and we are not seeking anyone else at this time. 

Police are awaiting a formal report from the pathologist, following the postmortem examination being completed.

Police seek witnesses after man located with injuries

Auckland City

Police are seeking witnesses in relation to a man who was located unconscious in Auckland CBD last week.

At about 4.14am on Saturday 27 September emergency services were called after a man was found unconscious on the corner of Pitt Street and Karangahape Road.

The male received significant injuries and was transported to hospital in a critical condition.

Detective Senior Sergeant Rebecca Kirk, Auckland City CIB, says Police are working to establish the full circumstances of what occurred, and if anyone was responsible for the man’s injuries.

Homicide investigation underway, person arrested, New Lynn

Waitematā

One person has been arrested and a homicide investigation has been launched following the death of a man in New Lynn this afternoon.

At about 11.52am, Police were called to a Kaponga Crescent address following a report of a person injured.

Despite the best efforts from first responders, the man sadly died at the scene.

Acting Detective Inspector Simon Harrison, of Waitematā CIB, says one person was taken into custody at the scene.

“As such, Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this matter.

Update: Sudden death, Heathcote Valley

Police have received positive information relating to the man found deceased on Horotane Valley Road, Heathcote Valley on Friday 19 September.

We would like to thank the community that has come forward with information, which has greatly assisted us in our enquiries.

Search for missing 17-year-old Marley moves to recovery phase

The search for missing 17-year-old Marley has now moved to a recovery phase.

Detective Senior Sergeant Jo Carolan says Police remain committed to returning Marley home to his family.

“A helicopter conducted shoreline searches today, but sadly did not locate Marley.“

Further land-based searching near Taylors Mistake is being considered. 

“This is the news that no family wants to receive, and we are offering them ongoing support.

“We would like to thank the members of the public who have provided information over the course of this search.”

Police incident, Flat Bush

A man has been taken into custody in Flat Bush this afternoon following an ongoing incident.

Just after 9.30am, officers were at a property in Chapel Road conducting enquiries when a firearm was discharged at Police.

A Police officer was transported to hospital and has since been discharged.

Cordons remain in place on Chapel Road, between Baverstock Road and Stancombe Road, while enquiries continue.

Police will provide a further update when we are able to.

Fatal crash, Aka Aka

One person has died following a crash in Aka Aka this morning.

The single vehicle crash was reported just before 5:30am on Aka Aka Road.

The road has since re-opened.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
