Media advisory: St Johns homicide investigation

Auckland City Police will hold a media stand-up tomorrow as part of the ongoing St Johns homicide investigation.

The investigation continues to seek those involved in the death of Kyle Whorrall over Easter Weekend.

Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin will speak with media on Tuesday morning.

The stand up will be held on Tuesday 30 September at Auckland City Police Hub, on Hargreaves  Street, at 10.15am.

Media are asked to wait outside in the forecourt area, where they will be escorted inside to set up.

Firearms found, four arrested following Whanganui search warrant

Multiple firearms were found hidden at a Puriri Street property when Whanganui police teams executed a search warrant last week on 25 September.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Carey Priest from the Whanganui Criminal Investigation Branch says items were found throughout the house, shed and in a roof space.

“Officers found a significant number of items and arrested four people, one of whom had a warrant out for her arrest.

PLB use leads to swift rescue in Upper Hutt

Wellington

Wellington Police’s Search and Rescue squad was called into action on Sunday following a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) activation in the Little Akatarawa River area, Upper Hutt.

The Rescue Coordination Centre requested assistance after the beacon was activated by a tramping group deep in the bush. Upon arrival, Police SAR teams discovered a patient had fallen from height into a steep and narrow canyon, sustaining moderate injuries.

Man arrested after serious incident at Wadestown property


Location:

Wellington

A man has been arrested in Wadestown this afternoon, after he allegedly entered a property and threatened the occupants with a weapon.

Police were called about 12.35pm to Anne Street, after a report of a man entering a house with a large, bladed weapon and attempting to steal a vehicle.

When challenged he has begun causing damage to the property, and on Police arrival, OC spray has been deployed.

He has then retreated to a room in the house and refused to come out.

Update: Clothing of missing 17-year-old Marley

Attribute to Detective Sergeant Lucy Aldridge:

Police searching for missing 17-year-old Marley are releasing an update on the clothing he is believed to be wearing.

Marley was wearing a light grey coloured Adidas hoodie and low-cut burgundy coloured converse shoes.

The bottom half of his clothing cannot be confirmed at this stage.

Police re-iterate that Marley was last seen in Opawa at around 2:30pm on Friday 26 September and his vehicle was later located in Sumner.

Matatā serious incident: Police speaking with woman


Location:

Bay of Plenty

Police are continuing to investigate after a person died during a serious incident in Matatā yesterday.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Flax and Matata Roads about 3.50pm, after a report of two people being injured by a third person while in a vehicle. During the incident, the vehicle left the road and crashed.

Despite the best effort of emergency services, one of the victims died at the scene. The second victim is in a stable condition in hospital.

The road was shut while a scene examination was completed and reopened about 2am today.

Appeal for information: Oakleigh crash

Attribute to Constable Lindsay Weir:

Whangārei Police are appealing to the public for information after a crash on State Highway 1 in Oakleigh yesterday evening.

Police were called to the crash involving two vehicles, one of which was towing a trailer, at around 5:40pm Saturday 27 September.

Thankfully, there were no serious injuries.

Police are asking for anyone that may have witnessed the crash or have dashcam footage of the crash and aftermath to please get in touch.

Search continues for Marley

Police are continuing their search for missing 17-year-old Marley today.

“Yesterday, Police, with the help of Land Search and Rescue, Coastguard Sumner, Fire and Emergency New Zealand, Surf Lifesaving New Zealand and volunteers searched the Scarborough whitewash area,” says Detective Sergeant Lucy Aldridge.

“Today our search efforts are focused on the surrounding bays and involves using drones, as well as boats and land teams to cover as much ground as possible.”

Raumanga arson: Police seek sightings of vehicle


Location:

Northland

Northland Police investigating a suspicious fire are now seeking information about a vehicle seen in the area.

Police were called to the address on Raumanga Valley Road in Raumanga, about 6.20am on Wednesday. All five occupants were asleep when a couch on the front deck was deliberately set alight, but thankfully they were able to evacuate safely.

Detective Senior Sergeant Shane Pilmer, Whangārei CIB, says witnesses described seeing a white or silver-coloured vehicle around the time of the fire.

Have you seen Marley?


Location:

Canterbury

Police are seeking the public’s help to locate 17-year-old Marley.

Marley was last seen in Opawa about 3pm on Friday 26 September. The vehicle he was driving was located in the Sumner area, but he could be anywhere in the city.

He is thought to be wearing black track pants and a dark-coloured hooded jersey.

If you see Marley please call Police via 111, quoting the reference number 250927/3331. Information after the fact can be made via 105, using the same reference number.
