Special Olympians join with Police for Law Enforcement Torch run – Auckland

Police will be part of something special this weekend, supporting Auckland’s Special Olympics athletes to carry the Flame of Hope in support of The Special Olympics Games.
The games are to be held at the new Wolfbrook Arena in Christchurch from Wednesday 10 until Sunday 14 of December this year.

Northland Police seek sightings of vehicle:

Northland

Northland Police are appealing for public help following reports of a burglary at a service station on SH12, Kaihu, Kaipara, this morning.

“At around 1.30am, Police received a report of a vehicle attempting to drive into the front door of the business,” Detective Senior Sergeant Shane Pilmer, Area Investigations Manager, Northland, says.

“No entry was gained and the offenders fled before Police arrived. We’re appealing for any sightings of a black car in the vicinity around that time and may have been seen heading towards Dargaville around 1.45am.”

Police search for Jayleb-Che


Location:

Bay of Plenty

Police are asking public near Waiotapu Loop Road to search their property for anything that may relate to the search for Jayleb-Che, age 36, who has been missing since Tuesday 30 September in Rotorua.

Police, and Search and Rescue, are actively searching the area where Jayleb-Che was last known to be.

Police would like to hear from members of the public who used the ‘hot and cold’ pools on Waiotapu Loop Road between 10pm on Tuesday 30 September and 10am on Wednesday 1 October.

Police are particularly interested in any dashcam or CCTV footage.

Cash, drugs, luxury goods seized in money laundering investigation

An ongoing investigation targeting alleged money laundering using cash wages within the construction industry has resulted in further arrests.

Operation Beach is a long running covert investigation targeting the ongoing manipulation of the construction industry for the purposes of money laundering via cash wage payments.

To date, 16 arrests have been made, with the latest phase in the investigation yielding seven further arrests today.

Whanganui Police catch morning drink driver after school dropoff

Central

A 36-year-old woman was caught driving badly impaired, over three times the legal alcohol limit, on Monday morning.

Sergeant Colin Wright says this recent example demonstrates the risk that drivers take if they get behind the wheel when they’re impaired.

About 10am on Monday 6 October Detectives Karin Wakefield and Piet De Vegt, from Whanganui Criminal Investigations Branch, were driving to an appointment in Taihape in an unmarked police vehicle.

Masterton Police investigating death of baby girl

To attribute to Detective Senior Sergeant Philip Skoglund, Masterton Police:

Police are investigating the death of a 3-month-old baby girl in Masterton.

At around 2pm on Thursday 2 October, Police were notified of the incident.

Officers are now working to determine what exactly has occurred.

The family are assisting the investigation team with our enquiries, and we are not seeking anyone else at this time. 

Police are awaiting a formal report from the pathologist, following the postmortem examination being completed.

Police seek witnesses after man located with injuries

Auckland City

Police are seeking witnesses in relation to a man who was located unconscious in Auckland CBD last week.

At about 4.14am on Saturday 27 September emergency services were called after a man was found unconscious on the corner of Pitt Street and Karangahape Road.

The male received significant injuries and was transported to hospital in a critical condition.

Detective Senior Sergeant Rebecca Kirk, Auckland City CIB, says Police are working to establish the full circumstances of what occurred, and if anyone was responsible for the man’s injuries.

Homicide investigation underway, person arrested, New Lynn

Waitematā

One person has been arrested and a homicide investigation has been launched following the death of a man in New Lynn this afternoon.

At about 11.52am, Police were called to a Kaponga Crescent address following a report of a person injured.

Despite the best efforts from first responders, the man sadly died at the scene.

Acting Detective Inspector Simon Harrison, of Waitematā CIB, says one person was taken into custody at the scene.

“As such, Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this matter.
