One person has died after the earlier two-vehicle crash on Halcombe Road, Feilding, earlier today.

Cordons remain in place while the Serious Crash Unit examines the scene.

Motorists should continue to avoid the area.

Man dies in hospital following crash, Ngaruawahia

Waikato

A man has died following injuries sustained in a serious crash earlier this month in Ngaruawahia.

Emergency services were called to the crash, between a car and a motorcycle, on River Road about 7am on 1 October.

The rider was taken to Waikato Hospital with critical injuries, where he died last weekend.

Police can confirm the deceased is 59-year-old Ngaruawahia man Craig Read. Our thoughts remain with his family and loved ones.

The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.

One dead after water rescue, Port Waikato

Police can confirm that one person has died in hospital following a water rescue near Port Waikato.

Emergency services received reports of three people in the water after a boat overturned, north of Sunset Beach, Port Waikato at around 7:15am.

Police, Surf Life Saving New Zealand and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter attended.

Three people were taken to hospital.

One person remains in a serious but stable condition, while the other person is in a moderate condition.

Update: charges laid following serious assault, Hamilton

Hamilton Police have charged three people in relation to the serious assault on a young man on Northolt Road, Fairview Downs, in Hamilton.

On 13 October, a young man was attacked at a residential address by several people, and suffered critical, life-threatening injuries during the incident.

He is undergoing surgery today, and remains in a serious condition.

Police arrested and charged two 20-year-old men and an 18-year-old female in relation to this incident.

They now face charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and aggravated burglary.

Henderson Beat Team keeps on

The numbers keep stacking up for the Henderson Beat Team since their inception in Waitematā District early last month.

Waitematā West Area Response Manager, Inspector Kelly Farrant, says in the first four weeks the team have made 48 arrests and laid numerous charges including theft, assault, and breaching bail.

“We are thrilled with the work of this team,” she says.

“It’s fantastic to see more and more retailers placing their trust in us to respond to shoplifting incidents.

Update: Man charged in disappearance of Jason Butler

Eastern Bay of Plenty Police have arrested and charged a man today, in relation to the disappearance of Jason Butler four years ago.

On Wednesday 27 October 2021 Jason was reported missing to Police, after not being seen since Saturday 23 October 2021.

Extensive searches took place in and around the Ōmāio area, including along the Haparapara River and bush areas, but sadly Jason has not been found.

Today, a series of search warrants have been executed in Ōpōtiki and Ōmāio, as a result a 57-year-old man has been arrested.

Seven new Police Patrol Dog Teams celebrate graduation today

Police Commissioner Richard Chambers welcomed seven new Patrol Dog Teams during their graduation at the Police Dog Training Centre (DTC) in Trentham, Upper Hutt today.

The teams celebrated the occasion in a ceremony hosted by New Zealand Police in front of whānau and friends, and members of the Police Executive.

Commissioner Chambers acknowledged the celebration of fine police officers and dogs, and the achievement of graduation, marking the end of weeks of demanding training, perseverance and patience to become an operational team.

Five people due to appear in court on multiple charges in drug operation, Ōpōtiki


Location:

Bay of Plenty

Five arrests have been made and drugs seized as Police target drug dealing in Ōpōtiki.

Four search warrants were carried out on Wednesday 15 September, at Ōpōtiki addresses believed to be involved in the sale or supply of controlled drugs.

Drugs and evidence of drug dealing were seized and five people arrested.

Of serious concern is the dealing from one address where children and young people were present and implicated in the supply of cannabis.
