Property, vehicles and cash seized in Mangapapa operation

Police have seized property, vehicles and cash as part of a multi‑agency operation targeting drugs and money laundering in Gisborne.

Last week, a search warrant was executed at a residential address in the Gisborne suburb of Mangapapa as part of Operation Set, an investigation led by Police’s Asset Recovery Unit with support from Gisborne Police, New Zealand Customs and Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI).

The Hastings‑based Police Asset Recovery Unit has now concluded Operation Set, which originated from a Customs investigation late last year.

Name release: Fatal crash, SH1, Kinleith


Location:

Bay of Plenty

Police are now in a position to name the woman who sadly died following a crash on State Highway 1, Kinleith, on Tuesday 21 April.

She was Dr Regina Katzenschlager, 61, from Austria.

Police extend our deepest condolences to her loved ones during this difficult time.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

Murchison man found with illegal firearms, explosives and drugs

A man will face court this week following a search at a Murchison property where guns and explosives were located.

Last week, Murchison Police, with the support of Nelson CIB and the Armed Offenders Squad, were at the rural address investigating reports of illegal firearms.

Enquiries were carried out, which resulted in the search of the property and the recovery of a shotgun, a .22 rifle, a revolver, ammunition and drugs.

Of note, the firearms were all loaded and not secured in a safe.

Police continue to appeal for sightings of TJ, 11, reported missing in Hamilton.

TJ was last seen at Glenview Community Centre on 29 April.

Police and TJ’s family are concerned for his wellbeing and would like to see him return home.

If you have seen TJ or have information regarding his whereabouts, please contact Police at 105.

Update: Search for person in distress concludes, Masterton


Location:

Wellington

Masterton Police have concluded the search for a person allegedly in distress in the river last night.

About 7.30pm on Sunday, Police were called to the skate park area on Dixon Street after a report of a call for assistance heard from the river.

During the search yesterday, nothing was located and Police have not received any reports of missing people in the area.

Following a review of the matter this morning, the search, and our enquiries have concluded.

Person located deceased, Motueka Valley


Location:

Tasman

Police have today located a person deceased in the Motueka Valley area.

The person was found by Search and Rescue personnel looking for missing Motueka man Nathan Green.

While the formal identification process is yet to be completed, Police believe the deceased is Nathan.

Nathan’s family have been advised and they have asked for privacy and do not wish to be contacted by media at this time.

40-year-old man to appear in court after firearms incident overnight, Waihi

Attributable to Superintendent Scott Gemmell, Waikato District Commander:

One person is before the court following a firearms incident in Waihi overnight.

At around 8.55pm, Police were alerted to a person threatening another person with an alleged firearm at a premises on Rosemont Road.

Initial enquiries established the firearm had allegedly been discharged at around 8pm.

Upon arrival, Police established a cordon around the area as a precaution.

While this took place, the alleged offender discharged a firearm towards a vehicle within the cordon.

Two men charged after road rage incident in Christchurch

Two men have been charged after an apparent road rage incident in Burwood, Christchurch last night.

Police were called to the intersection of Burwood Road and Queen Elizabeth II Drive at around 7pm yesterday (2 May), after a man was found injured on the road.

Witnesses reported that the man had been assaulted by two men, who had subsequently left the area in their car.

Fatality following water related incident, Kaikōura


Location:

Tasman

Police can confirm a person has died following a water related incident in Kaikōura today.

At around 12.40pm, Police were alerted to a boat having capsized in South Bay.

Sadly, one person was located deceased.

Police worked at the scene alongside volunteers from Coastguard Kaikōura and members of the public.

Enquiries into the circumstances into the incident are ongoing.
