Police are sending a warning to anyone who may be in possession of a dangerous medication stolen during a theft.

The medication, known as Pentobarbital, could have a lethal effect if ingested.

Police are asking for the bagged item to be returned immediately given the risk.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Greaves, Auckland City CIB, says the medication, provided by a vet, was inside a handbag which was stolen from a vehicle parked in Glendowie overnight on Wednesday 16 September.

“The medication is in liquid form and was inside a pink handbag.
