Sudden death investigation launched, Tokoroa

Attribute to Taupō Area Investigations Manager, Detective Senior Sergeant Ryan Yardley: 

Police are investigating the sudden death of a woman at a Tokoroa address overnight.

Police were called just before midnight to an address on Hinau Street.

Emergency services responded, but sadly she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Cordons have been put in place in the immediate area, and a scene guard remains at the property.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish what exactly has occurred.

Fatal crash investigation: Appeal for information


Location:

Waikato

Police are progressing the investigation into a fatal crash on Te Pahu Road, south of Whatawhata, in October last year but want to speak with motorists who were on that section of road prior to the incident.

The single-vehicle crash happened about 5:10pm on 31 October 2025 and resulted in the death of the sole occupant, Detective Deb Ngatai says.

“We would like to speak with anyone who travelled along Te Pahu Road between Ferguson Road and Old Mountain Road on 31 October, between 4pm and 5.15pm.

Fatal crash, Kinleith


Location:

Bay of Plenty

One person has died following a crash in Kinleith on yesterday.

Police were called to the single vehicle crash on Kauri Road around 3.40pm.

Sadly, the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was found deceased at the scene.

The road was closed while the Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination and was reopened around 9.40pm.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

Body located, Lake Tekapo

Attribute to Sergeant Warwick Worth:

A body has been located on the shore of Lake Tekapo.

On Wednesday 17 June, around 8.40am, Police were called with a report that the body of a man was seen in the shallows on the western shore of Lake Tekapo.

Police, along with other emergency services, attended and sadly the man was declared deceased at the scene.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the death are ongoing, however it is not being treated as suspicious.

Seconds become crucial as tragedy avoided

Auckland City

Three Police officers had merely minutes to prevent a tragedy.

All three members from the Auckland Police Maritime Unit sprang into action as a vehicle was quickly pulled under water in Okahu Bay on Monday afternoon.

“The first officer entered the water almost immediately and swam to the vehicle,” District Operations Manager, Inspector Vaughn Graham says.

“A second officer entered shortly afterward, with the third officer getting onto the radio calling for additional resources to the scene.”

Seconds became critical.
