Name release, fatal crash, Kinleith

Police are now in a position to release the name of the man who died following a crash on Kauri Road on Thursday 17 June.

He was 29-year-old Benjamin Eric Russell, of Tokoroa.

Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash remain ongoing.

Fatal crash: Great Barrier Island


Location:

Auckland City

One person has died following a serious crash on Great Barrier Island this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Mulberry Grove Road and Shoal Bay Road at around 12.20pm.

Sadly, one person was located deceased at the scene.

There are no other reports of injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit is in attendance, conducting a scene examination.

Fatal crash,Gisborne


Location:

Eastern

Police can confirm one person has died following a crash in Patutahi, west of Gisborne.

The single vehicle crash on Wharekopae Road was reported at around 5:20pm yesterday.

One person died at the scene, while multiple others were injured in the crash, including two seriously.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information pertaining to it, please contact Gisborne Police directly, or via 105, quoting P066755884.

Fatal crash: SH1, Johnsonville Porirua Motorway


Location:

Wellington

Police can confirm one person has died following a crash on State Highway 1, north of Wellington, yesterday.

The two-vehicle crash between the Tawa-Grenada North on-ramp and the Churton Park-Glenside off-ramp was reported about 4:40pm.

A second person sustained critical injuries.

The road opened shortly before 11pm after the Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination.

Body located, Pahoia Peninsula


Location:

Bay of Plenty

Police have located a body in the search for a missing man in Tauranga.

The body was located by Police off the Pahoia Peninsula yesterday evening.

While a formal identification process is underway, the body is believed to be that of 56-year-old man Aaron Franklin, who was reported missing on 8 June.

Police have been in contact with his family and are providing them the necessary support.

Operation Green: Police dig out cannabis operation

Auckland City

Auckland Police have seized close to 500 cannabis plants following an operation targeting organised crime groups in the area.

On Tuesday, Police executed four search warrants at properties in Hillsborough, New Windsor, Mount Roskill, and Mount Albert as part of Operation Green.

Acting Senior Sergeant Corey Foster, Auckland City West Police, says the operation targeted organised criminal activity in the area, aiming to shut down any further impact to the community.

On-duty taxi driver found over the limit

Police are deeply concerned after an Auckland taxi driver was found driving allegedly six times the legal breath alcohol limit.

The driver was working at the time.

Auckland Motorways staff responded to a driving complaint on the South-Western Motorway (SH20) after 2pm on Thursday.

“The taxi van was heading northbound, and another motorist called us reporting the driver had been potentially falling asleep at the wheel,” Senior Sergeant Bill Russell, Auckland Motorways, says.
