A man critically injured in an incident in Pongakawa on Friday night has died.

Police were called to Rotoehu Forest about 10:15pm on 31 July, where 24-year-old Harry Burlace was located in a critical condition.

Harry has since died in Rotorua Hospital from his injuries.

Detective Senior Sergeant Natalie Flowerdew-Brown says Police’s thoughts are with Harry’s family and friends.

“We are continuing to piece together the events that lead to Harry being critically injured, and continue to make a number of enquiries as to what happened,” she says.

Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Puketapu and Springfield Roads about 2.30pm today. 

Sadly, one person has died at the scene. 

The road will remain closed while the Serious Crash Unit carries out a scene examination. 

Diversions are in place and motorists should allow extra travel time.

A person has died after being hit by a car in Whanganui.

Emergency services were called to Puriri Street in Gonville just after 8:30pm on Saturday, to reports a car had hit a pedestrian near the intersection with Rogers Street.

Sadly, despite medical attention, the pedestrian died at the scene.

The Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination and enquiries into the exact circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

Wellington Police investigating a crash from April are appealing for information from the public to assist our enquiries. 

Police have received a report of an historic crash, involving a vehicle and a mobility scooter, at a pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Dixon and Taranaki Streets, on Saturday 25 April (ANZAC Day) just before midnight. 

The mobility scooter rider received some injuries and was tended to by members of the public, and the mobility scooter was damaged beyond repair.

Hamilton Police were on the scent this afternoon, sniffing out four alleged perfume thieves this afternoon in a little over an hour.

Shortly before 2pm, Police received a call reporting that staff at a store at The Base had been assaulted and thousands of dollars’ worth of perfume had been taken.

No weapons were used, nor were there any injuries.

Senior Sergeant Pete Simpson says Police have responded immediately and received quick information at the scene on the likely identity of one of the youths.

One person has died after a crash earlier this week on SH2, Te Hauke, Hawke’s Bay. 

Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle crash about 11.20am on Thursday 30 July. 

One person was transported to hospital in a critical condition. 

Sadly, they have died in hospital today. 

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing, and the death will be referred to the Coroner.
