Alarms were raised by a member of the public after he noticed suspicious activity at a Drury construction site late last night.

The informant contacted Police just before 10.30pm after spotting a suspicious looking vehicle parked outside the Fielding Road site.

A short time later the Police Eagle helicopter was overhead and spotted a man with a backpack attempting to hide behind a dirt pile.

“Eagle was able to maintain observations on the person until a unit arrived,” Counties Manukau South Area Response Manager, Senior Sergeant Kushla Clarke says.
