Man charged over alleged indecent assaults

A west Auckland man has been charged in an investigation into alleged offending at a therapy clinic.

Waitematā Police have been investigating alleged offending and made an arrest this month.

Detective Senior Sergeant Ryan Bunting, Waitematā West Area Investigations Manager, says a middle-aged man has been charged with two counts of indecent assault.

He remains before the Auckland District Court, reappearing September.

MEDIA ADVISORY: Auckland-based wing welcomes 34 new cops to the frontline

The first 2026 wing to graduate from the New Zealand Police Auckland campus will be acknowledged and celebrated this Friday 26 June.

They will soon be boosting the frontline with two new constables bound for Northland District and 32 deployed across Tāmaki Makaurau. 

The 32 Auckland-trained graduates will join 21 Porirua-trained graduates from the 396 Chiquita Holden Wing who are also bound for Tāmaki Makaurau. The 396 wing are graduating tomorrow from the Royal New Zealand Police College in Porirua.

Police frustrated as witnesses ‘silent’ in hit and run investigation

Far North Police are being met with a wall of silence nearly two months on from a fatal hit and run.

An investigation team has been working to investigate the sequence of events leading up to Jahkani Hamilton suffering fatal injuries, near Kaikohe, on 5 May.

The 18-year-old was found deceased on Ngapipito Road at around 11.10pm, after being knocked off a dirt bike.

An associate of Jahkani was found in the nearby area with serious injuries after also being knocked off a dirt bike.

Media Advisory: Police Patrol Dog graduation

New Zealand Police will host the latest dog graduation on Thursday 25 June at 1pm. 

Handlers and their dogs will be acknowledged in front of whānau and friends and members of the New Zealand Police executive.

Graduating from the police patrol dog course are ‘Delta’ teams from Auckland, Christchurch, Central, Southern, Bay of Plenty and Wellington Districts.

Media are invited to attend the prizegiving which starts at 1pm at the Police Dog Training Centre, Dante Road, Trentham. Please arrive at 12.45pm.

Drugs and firearms seized, Napier

Attribute to Detective Sergeant Glenn Restieaux – Officer in Charge Hastings Criminal Investigation Branch:

Police have arrested three men after a clandestine lab was located at an address in Napier today.

Eastern District Organised Crime Unit, with the assistance from other specialist staff, executed a warrant at an address on Phillips Street in Awatoto, Napier, as part of an operation targeting the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

A rider has lost his bike for a month and been summonsed to court after making a poor decision in Moerewa yesterday.

At about 5pm, officers observed an unregistered dirt bike travelling at speed on Otiria Road before turning into Pokapu Road.

Mid North Area Response Manager, Senior Sergeant Mark Barratt, says the officers activated their lights and sirens to signal for the rider to stop.

“The rider has then unfortunately made the decision not to stop and continued on driving into a culvert and onto a grass patch.

Police investigating threatening emails

At this stage, Police perceive the threats to be low risk.

Search continues for missing fisherman in Taharoa

A search for Dilane Harding, 55, a missing fisherman in Taharoa is continuing this week.

Dilane was reported missing at around 7pm on Thursday 18 June after he failed to return home from fishing off Paparoa Rock on the west coast of Taharoa earlier in the morning.

We’d like to thank all those involved in the search operation to date, including Land Search and Rescue and Auckland Coastguard Air Patrol.
