A concoction of addictive and harmful substances was seized in our communities and at the border as part of a week of action on illicit drugs.

New Zealand Police and Customs joined Australian authorities during the coordinated effort by the Australia and New Zealand Illicit Drug Working Group (ANZIDWG). 

Search warrants were carried out around the country, along with enforcement action at New Zealand’s border.

Police can confirm one person has died following a crash in Alexandra on Saturday 19 September.

At around 4pm, emergency services were called to Killarney Street after a vehicle collided with a pedestrian on a driveway.

The pedestrian was transported to hospital and sadly passed away in hospital on Sunday 20 September.

Police are offering support to their loved ones at this difficult time.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
