One person has died following a crash in Mangamuka this morning. 

Police were called to the single vehicle crash on State Highway 1 at 9.30am.

Sadly, one person was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Serious Crash Unit attended and enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.

Police investigating an assault in Mount Victoria last week are appealing to the public for information.

Police were called to Austin Street at about 11.40pm on Wednesday 9 September.

Detective Senior Sergeant Tim Leitch from Wellington CIB says a resident of Austin Street was randomly approached by two men as she was putting rubbish out for collection.

“The woman noticed both men standing on the footpath a short distance south of Derby Street. They spoke to her briefly before producing weapons.
