One person has died after a serious crash in Carterton yesterday, Sunday 20 September.

Police were called to a crash involving three motorcycles and a ute on Carter’s line, near Somerset Road, at around 2.55pm.

Sadly, despite best efforts, one person died at the scene.

Another person was transported to hospital in a serious condition, while another person received minor injuries.

The road was closed while the Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

Waikato Police investigating a death involving a train at Te Awamutu railway station are encouraging those who were present and those who may need it to seek support.

Detective Sergeant Harry Hodgson says Police urge those who witnessed the incident to contact Police.

“This is a tragic incident, and we know that it will be distressing, Victim Support is available if needed.”

Police continue to support whānau through this difficult time.
