Police seek information following Napier ram raid

Police are appealing for information following a ram raid at a dairy on Meeanee Road, Napier, in the early hours of Monday morning.

At approximately 2.50am on 10 August, offenders used a vehicle to force entry into the store before stealing various products.

The offenders fled the scene prior to Police arrival.

Police are particularly interested in information relating to a silver Toyota Aqua, or a similar vehicle, which is believed to have been involved in the incident.

No hiding for cover, thieves come a copper

Two men spotted beneath an Ellerslie manhole in the dark last night have wound up in Police custody.

Just after 11.30pm, Police were alerted to two men allegedly spotted opening a manhole cover and cutting cabling inside with power tools on Cawley Street.

Senior Sergeant Tony Ngau Chun, Auckland East Area Response Manager, says officers were on the scene within three minutes.

“Thefts like this can cause thousands of dollars’ worth of damage.

SteamOS 3.8.25 Beta

This update is for the SteamOS Beta and Preview channels, and includes new features that are still being tested. You can opt into this in Settings > System > System Update Channel.

Known Issues – Beta

  • There is a known issue with degraded performance in some cases when composition is required (such as when having FSR enabled).

    This issue is fixed in the latest SteamOS stable release (3.8.16). Affected users may wish to switch to the stable update channel while we work on bringing this fix to the beta channel.

Investigation underway after Rotorua Lakefront assault

Attributable to Acting Detective Inspector Louise Curragh:

One man has been arrested after a serious assault at the Rotorua Lakefront overnight.

Police were called to the lakefront about 3.15am after a report of a man being assaulted. 

On Police’s arrival, the victim was found in a critical condition and was transported to hospital. 

The alleged offender was located nearby a short time later and taken into custody. 

Police are now working to establish the full circumstances of what has occurred, and charges are being considered.

Man arrested, meth seized following Christchurch search warrant

Canterbury

Police have seized approximately half a kilogram of methamphetamine following the execution of a search warrant at a Christchurch property today.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Brad Grainger says members of the Canterbury Major and Organised Crime Unit executed the warrant at a Lyttleton Street address in relation to an investigation.

“Police located and seized approximately 505 grams of methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of more than $150,000.”

Epsom incident: Update on cyclist’s condition

Auckland City

Police can advise one cyclist remains in hospital in a critical condition, following the events in Epsom on Wednesday morning.

The boy’s parents have been overwhelmed by attempts to contact them. They have asked Police to convey their wish to media that they would like privacy at this time.
